In the last lecture, has covered the topic about the ethical research for academic and also this module. Research ethic is specifically concerned in the analysis of ethical issue that is raised when people are involved as participants in research. This is important for every student in doing a research paper when need to deal with collecting data from users. For the final paper, the author is doing a report paper on The One Academy’s Facebook group online community. In the previous post mentioned one of the research question is to analyze the activity/action in the community.

In this case, she has to concern and understand the research ethics limit when start collecting or observing the information. As for this research, most of the support sources are gather from secondary informants such as book, online journal and online article. The primary source is from observing the official group in Facebook.

Based on the UH student skills handbook page 33, stated that student has to complete and apply an application for ethical approval if participation of others involved. After having discussion with her lecturer, there is no necessary to do survey or collecting data from other people for the report. There are concept and theory to analyze online community based on her further study and the sources she found about online community. There is no work with any individual or organisations in doing the research report.

There is some other research ethics in reporting research results to be concern, which is research misconduct. Research misconduct means Fabrication, Falsification, or Plagiarism (FFP) according to Prashant V. Kamat’s slide.

Fabrication is making up data or results and recording or reporting them. The student will not create false facts and information in her research paper(Kamat, 2006).

Plagiarism is the appropriation of another person's ideas, process, results or words without giving appropriate credit. To avoid such transgressions, the research uses a proposal and blog to documend the development of the theses and also to employ the Harvard referencing style within these documents as well as the forthcoming research report. The Harvard referencing style is the official citation method of the UH program in UK and Malaysia and has been taught to students of the UH program since level 4.

In conclusion, baving addressed all major research ethical issues, and having found minimal issues, this research may be considered safe to proceed.
