Oh Lat style Oh "Kampung Boy" , does this sound more familiar to you now ? It is my favourite local comic book by Lat, or Datuk Mohammad Nor Khalid, a well-known cartoonist in Malaysia who tells story about Malaysia's life style and cultures. I believe most of the Malaysians have grown up with his comics. It is just like in hongkong, they have 'Master Q' who portrays the lifestyle of Hong Kong people. In Malaysia, we have Lat comics :D Based on the description by Goodreads, Kampung Boy is about " A Muslim boy who reflect Lat's life growing up in rural Malaysia in the 1950s: his adventures and mischief-making, fishing trips, religious study, and work on his family's rubber plantation. Meanwhile, the traditional way of life in his village (or kampung) is steadily disappearing, with tin mines and factory jobs gradually replacing family farms and rubber small-holders. When Mat himself leaves for boarding school, he can only hope that his familiar kampung will still be there when he returns. Kampung Boy is hilarious and affectionate, with brilliant, super-expressive artwork that opens a window into a world that has now nearly vanished." - GoodReads There are more to study on Lat's comic like how he portrays Malaysian in his comic but before that i will like to highlight something interesting i found in YES Kaya Raya advertisement with Lat's comic visuals. There is no any article that mention about the visual details in YES advertisement. But based on my observation, i found it is quite "LAT style" . Why ? let see ...

These few panels of comic i found online from Lat comic. Look at the characters that i circle them in yellow circle. They are some similar characteristics when look at overall but in details, there are also someeeee look different.
Isn't it look similar to the Lat Kampung house? and the only different between them is that curtains , which i circle it in red. is it Coincidence ? or ... intertextual ? Or is it Lat style actually?
What more interesting ?
I found there's a forum about "Hari Raya with Lat in Klcc" in Photo Malaysia website.
The date stated in the forum is in 2008 .

After my observations, I found that there are some similar and different between Lat comic and YES advertisement. As i mentioned, YES did not mention anything about their visual art but can find some little spots that similar to Lat.
